Dr. Guan Jian

 

Jian Guan, PhD. Specializing in public health and immigrant entrepreneurship. Currently Teaching Leadership Ethics and International Business of Ethics and Regulations in Ted Rogers School of Management at Ryerson University. Founding president of the Canadian Academy of Natural Health and president of Canadian Association for Cancer Support. Current research focuses on health and nutrition for immigrants. Publications focus on transnational entrepreneurship of Chinese immigrants, mental health related to social support and services accessibility among Chinese immigrants in Canada, cross-cultural comparison of immigrants’ health, cultural effects on physician/patient relations, social-psychological impact of SARS epidemics. Course taught include Medical Sociology, Sociology and Health, Values and Ethics for Health Professionals and Nutrition Counseling. 2012 received Ontario 10-Year Volunteer Award, Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal. 2016 received Ontario Leading Women Award.
